Road Test

The Clio Van is too far removed from the passenger car it has been derived from. The seats are comfortable and covered in a hard-wearing material, a radio cassette, remote central locking, power steering and height adjustable steering wheel on the standard model. Side impact bars, drivers airbag, engine immobiliser, security etched windows and the Renault Anti Intruder Device (reassuringly called RAID). Later models include passenger airbag, electric front windows and ABS. All improve the 2001 generation model. Ideal for urban transportation, the Clio Van can carry up to 550kg in 0.95 m3 of load space coming near the top of its sector. The load bed is hardwearing and features restraining hooks. For such a small vehicle, the load bay is 1,341mm, 1348mm between the arches. One version is available, a competent 1.5dCI with a 65bhp delivering an amazing 65.7mpg fuel economy. Like all urban motoring the chance of scrapes and knocks increases, Renault Clio Van?s body has been designed to 'pop out' small dents by hand. Wide rubbing strips and chunky bumpers complete the protection package. The driving experience is easily enough to keep up on the motorway, comfortable enough for long drives and nimble enough for urban driving. Cost effective to purchase the Clio Van and with its excellent fuel economy makes this small van a real winner. Car like comfort and added safety features enhance reasons to consider this little gem.

Verdict

A small car derived van that packs a punch in the load capacity as well as providing all the creature comforts you would expect in a car. Competitive pricing especially compared with what you get versus competitors makes this Clio Van a serious option.
