Road Test

The Interstar is fitted with a variety of useful storage including a new double roof storage and an additional tray on the centre console. It?s hard to differentiate from manufacturers and models as they all work together and share best ideas. Nissan highlighted the RPS parking sensor as the way to differentiate the Interstar from similar rivals. Put the Interstar into reverse and a short bleep sounds to represent the RPS systems starting to work and the bleeps get louder as you get lose to any object. It is a good tool but can be very annoying, especially when you are in a tight space and don't need a bleeper going to add distraction or tell you something you already know! The van has a tight turning circle with a good view sat high and upright. All round a comfortable driving experience even on longer journeys. The Interstar's are available as three wheelbases and three roof-heights. The biggest Interstar is the long wheelbase/high-roof giving 13.9 cubic meters of load volume with access through high rear doors or a sliding side door. At 5,888mm in length and with unglazed rear doors fitted as standard, you might be glad of that annoying bleeping Rear Parking Sensor. The floor is usefully low helping access if lifting heavy loads. Interstar operators get disc brakes all-round and independent double wishbone suspension at the front. Rear ride has a rigid axel with single steel leaf springs, designed to handle heavy loads without adversely effecting handling. Gross vehicle weight: 2.8t, 3.3t, 3.5t The engine line up on Interstar has been simplified to one 2.5-litre dCi available with three outputs, 100, 120 and 150hp, all offering improved performance and refinement. Euro 4 compliancy on the new engines means that emission levels have been cut significantly, while maintaining the same level of refinement, consumption and performance. A diesel particle filter (DPF) which eliminates 99.9% of diesel engine emissions is standard fitment on the 2.5-litre dCi 150hp engine. A 6-speed gearbox offering improved reliability and performance.

Verdict

A typical medium sized panel van neither better nor worse than its competitors. Added parking sensor added that its rivals don't have but other than that similarities are too tight to call.
