No longer being manufactured the Isuzu TF has been replaced by the new Isuzu Rodeo from 2004. A strong solid workhorse and economical. Although seen as stylish in it's time now looks outdated compared to flashier modern competitors.

Road Test
Not the most inspired design buyers get the imposing grille, fog light front bumper with two derivates - Base model and 4Sport. The 4Sport is aimed at the trend-conscious buyers wanting that bit more style with two-tone paintwork and 16-inch alloys, while the interior features air-conditioning, electric windows, electric mirrors, a passenger airbag and central locking, along with radio/CD player. It might not sound like the TF 4Sport has an abundance of equipment but compared to the basic models they are worth a mention. A driver's airbag is supplied across the range and all doors have side-impact protection.
Two body styles; single or double cab and choice of two or four wheel drive transmission. 4Sport is offered only as 4x4 crew cab. The single cab can cope with a 1,075kg payload while the crew cab, with its rear seating bench can manage 1,015kg. 5-litre turbo diesel drivers will welcome the massive torque increase 166lb/ft. This has been achieved through the addition of an intercooler, as well as other modifications. A cold starting aid is included to help the TF on cold mornings
The TF performs competently as an off-road vehicle in the 4x4 option and is good on roads making it a comfortable drive. Isuzu claim excellent fuel economy, the 4x2s are the most economical at about 40mpg for combined driving and 32mpg around town. They can motor with the 4x2 top speeds of 87mph.
This pick-up is on a par with others in its class and is a strong performer as well as the added advantage of the Isuzu heritage. Ensure you think carefully about your off road needs and opt for the best model to suit your need.
Verdict
Strong, solid option available in two body styles and two transmissions to make simple. Efforts have been made on styling to appeal to image conscious buyers.
