The Relay Enterprise is a special edition to the popular Citroen Relay van. Extra equipment and a low price was Citroens marketing ploy to get buyers into the showroom but that's fine as the discounts filter down to the used buyer.
For
- High level of equipment as standard
- Economical engine
- Cost effective
Against
- Still a Relay so look at main van points
Road Test
There has been the Xsara Enterprise, C2 Enterprise, Dispatch Enterprise and yes you've got it the Berlingo Enterprise so we shouldn't really be surprised Citroen have come up with the Relay Enterprise. Seen as a special edition to the main Relay range it is jam packed with additional equipment as standard. All Citroen Relay Enterprise models include ABS brakes, a drivers airbag and a CD stereo in addition to the equipment that comes as standard on the Relay. Its here that the vehicles special edition status has more relevance. The cost is just £320 over that of an equivalent standard model, so most buyers with any sort of flexibility in their budget will want to make the step up to Enterprise. This is particularly clear when you realise that ABS brakes alone cost a Relay buyer £400 if them fitted as an option to his mainstream model. Inside the dashboard is attractive with chunky and easy to use controls. The quality of the materials is good but it's still creaky. The driving position is high for good visibility and a comfortable ride. As is a recent popular trend the gear stick is mounted on the dash for ease while driving and more cabin space on the floor.
There are Enterprise versions of Relay vans from across the line-up but choice is limited to specific models. The short wheelbase/low roof 2.0-litre HDi engine, provides a 1,145kg payload capacity and a 7.5m3 load volume and is adequate for carrying lighter loads. The 2.2-litre 104bhp with a 1,505kg payload. The 2.8-litre HDi model with 127bhp but has a lower carrying capacity of 1,480kg , this is the best choice if possible as even with a large cargo on board has good take off and copes with hills. The Relays HDi engines themselves use the same common-rail diesel technology that have become popular in vans after being used in diesel-powered passenger cars.
Verdict
Same Relay but packed with extra equipment so worth a look.
