The 1.4 Astra is a mixed bag. It drives very well, handling and comfort are good for the driver, albeit it is very slow off the mark (but it is a 1.4) Fairly economical, there are lots of little gripes about this car that are irritating. The controls on the steering wheel for the radio are poor, the indicators and wiper stalks use some strange system that is just plain annoying, and the stereo sound quality is hopelessly bad, with all the life of a dead badger. A real shame, as it is nice to drive, but I would buy something else that has been thought through a little better..

The Vauxhall Astra Breeze 1.4i is a comfortable family car. Inside it is roomy but basic. The handling is average with lots of steering slide and the economy is lower than expected particularly under urban conditions. It has slow acceleration from a standing start. As a family car it is adequate and cost effective but for acceleration a higher spec engine is a must. Slightly over priced for it's features.
