I needed a reliable 4x4 diesel auto for towing an unbraked simulated game trailer across all terrain. It had to look professional and perform on steep sided fields and return good fuel economy. higher than average mileage was not a problem.
The vehicle was sourced for me by Toll House Toyota at Slinfold West Sussex. 62,000 miles and it never returns less than 28 mpg. Cruises on motorways like a dream, climbs dew laden long grass 40 degree fields on the South Downs towing the trailer without even missing a beat.
With 10,000 mile servicing costing £190 what more could you ask? Sat Nav is not great as it does not take post codes but the stereo is to die for.
You want good looks, reliability and economy look no further. Speak to Ian McKillip at Toll House for quality service.

If you want a "lifestyle" performance 4x4 go elsewhere. But if you want a tough, reliable and comfortable 4x4 vehicle that can deal with the very worst conditions, this is an excellent choice.
Extensively used in Australia and Africa in very harsh conditions, Land Cruiser is not a jacked-up 4x4 version of an on-road estate. It's sold in the USA as the Lexus GX470.
With a great deal of metal to haul around and a traditional frame chassis, it's not going to compete with a BMW X5 on-road, but off-road it will leave it for dead.
Performance on road is OK but remember what you're driving is a big diesel 4x4; adjust expectations and driving accordingly. Speedo is a bit optimistic: true speed per GPS shows gearing is 70 mph @ 2600 rpm and on the the continent 130 kph (80mph) @ 3000 rpm.
