A very under-rated car. People often mistake it for a Jaguar, and mechanics laugh at it. However, it is the Rover driver who laughs as he drives past them "know-alls". Yes, they expect the head gasket to blow at any time, but only a few cars suffered that problem, and many thousands more out there have no problems at all. There are a few niggles: no CD player at all in the base models, the handbrake can be tricky to sort out if it is badly maintained, but there is a very good owners club forum that can answer virtually any question you have on the 75. Go to http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/index.php Buy one with a service history and you will not regret it!

A brilliant car... British and best. Why people rave over Mercs, BMWs, Audis and any other foreign car is beyond my comprehension. I have had Rovers and group ancestral cars for over 50 years... every one a winner. The demise of Rover is due to the quirky madness of the British to knock home-made goods and buy foreign. We are only good at making a shambles of everything these days and have no meaningful industry. Rover cars deserved far better support than that given.

A superb car, very comfortable and smooth - even the 1.8. Ride comfort is excellent, it's relaxing to drive, and the interior is beautifully finished.

I have to be honest and say that this is the worst car I have ever owned. It had done 55,000 miles when I bought it 15 months ago and has cost me approx £2,500 repairing faults - from master cylinder to the boot filling up with water. Every owner I speak to says they are awful. I can't wait to get rid of mine so am tempted to drive it into a wall. Looks nice though...

A fantastic car. Having looked and driven many other cars, some costing far more; the Rover 75 still stands head and shoulders above them in nearly every department. Build quality and materials used are genuinely better than anything from the continent; with the advantage that the overall look is quite exclusive. Ride quality and comfort are excellent. I always look for downsides and can find only one or two niggles - fuel consumption could have been better. There is a very thick C pillar which hampers reversing (though the sensors help). I really am being very picky though. The ambience and quality are something we have now lost and cannot easily replace. When the 75 finally ends it's days, the motoring pundits will look back and say 'if only Rover had......' But we all know the story, so no recriminations, I'm going to enjoy my 75 for as long as I am able.

Great car. Bought from new and now five years old. Apart from usual servicing and tyre expenses, no problems at all. Better comfort than Merc. A great cruising car but a bit slow getting from 0-60.

I bought the car at 4 years old with 40k miles. It's LPG converted with gas at 35p/litre and my consumption at 21mpg overall (mainly motorway) - that makes it better than a diesel, working out at 56mpg equivelent. I have owned the car for 7 months in which time I have done 14k miles. I love the looks of the Rover 75 Tourer, the features and equipment; it's just a shame about the reliability. So far it has needed two new front discs, a new battery, a new headlight unit, it has a coolant/water leak requiring regular topping up, and has now an oil leak probably due to cylinder head gasket failure.
