Bought it second-hand, and spent £3500 in 5 months! I've now sold it!!! The most expensive car I have ever owned.I'll never buy another Renault.

If you want space and a good motorway cruiser, then this is the car. If you want a reliable spacious motorway cruiser, then you need to find something else. Two clutches, one gearbox, 6 discs and various bits within three years and less than 60K miles is not good.
Don't let children near your interior trim, they'll have it to bits in seconds. Depreciation is appalling, but get one with all the warranty work already done and priced around 6K, and you should be alright... Don't bank on it though...

1.8 Extreme

I had two Lagunas before this one: a 'Phase1' RN which was great, and a 1.6 Authentic which wasn't so great. The 1.8 Extreme is probably one of the best cars I've owned - I drove it reasonably hard and did just under 30,000 miles in my 14 months of ownership and it didn't fail on me once.
The only issues I had with it were that the rooflining came a little loose, and that the standard stereo isn't much cop on motorway journeys. I was also disappointed with its resale value, but all in all it was a great all rounder, and I often wish I'd never sold it...

An absolute cracker of a car. I have read reviews that do not rate the vehicle, but they only represent a small proportion of owners. The car is solid, reliable, comfortable and economical. This is my third Renault and their reliability is outstanding. This car beats the Vectra and Mondeo hands down!

I've owned this car from new and enjoyed it a lot. Lots of toys, many you do not need, but the inbuilt sat nav and Bluetooth car kit are invaluable.
It sat effortlessly at 85mph on the motorway and did 32mpg. Only got rid of it to switch to identical 2.0 dCi version which does 42mpg.
None of the gremlins appeared that have been written about elsewhere, but there's disagreement within the dealer network on how the hands-free unlocking should work!

A very quick and comfortable car stacked with gadgets you'd never think you'd need but which soon become invaluable. Secondhand this is the best value fast cruiser about. It's not a sports car but it'll get you from A to B quickly, comfortably and safely.

This is my third Renault, and I've got to say it's a really good car. I looked at the Vectra and the Mondeo and they did not compare. I drive the Laguna quite hard and do clock up the miles, but it takes it very well. Looks great, smooth and quiet ride, awesome engine with great mpg and cheap running costs!

I bought this 1.8 16v estate (Jul 2007)with 96k on the clock (ex Lease ~ service history lost). It has now 101k & I really enjoy driving it but with a 2003 (53) car costing £2350 I expected some problems & I got one or two (corroded air-con pipe; noisey crank pulley) but all in all it is everything I want. Loads of space for my golf clubs; reasonable fuel economy (35+ mpg) & a very enjoyable CD/radio. The engine still sounds nice & quiet; the ride is comfortable & lots of nice little toys around the cabin. I've previously owned an R11 (1.7 GTX); R21 (2.0 GTX); 2x Megane (2.0 RXE); Laguna Mk1 (2.0 RXE) and they have all been a pleasure to own & drive, with each model boasting an improved spec as the years roll on! If this one gives me another 8 years (as previous cars have done) then I'll be fairly happy.

I owned one from new, and it was brilliant - economical, quick, quiet and roomy. The full colour sat nav was great, and it never gave me any mechanical problems. Great car.
