I have been looking at 350z for a few years and always managed to talk myself out of actually buying (lack of space, running costs, generally not being a practical day to day car). How wrong I was, this car is a hoot, the 0-60 is as good as any, the handling very precise and the MPH? What do you expect still manages over 30 on a run (try and get that out of RX8 just a pipedream). The Bose unit on the GT is superb (try a bit of AC/DC full blast and you'll know what I mean). The boot space could be a bit bigger though Nissan show how to fit 2 sets of clubs which is no mean feat considering the size. The finish internally is certainly not up there with BMW (door handles are a little flimsy) but to get the same looks and performance you'll need to spend a hell of alot of German Euros. If you have had the notion for the 350Z go have a test drive and like me you will surely be smitten.

Very good handling and road holding though can be bit tricky in the wet if the traction control is switched off. It invariably is switched off as it's too sensitive and the engine will 'bog-down' when accelerating out of 2nd gear bends.
There are irritating faults. For instance, the rear shelf vibrates annoyingly at certain temperatures -this is worst when cold.
More serious was tyre roar that became very bad after 6000 miles. It was worst below 30 mph, on smooth roads and if braking. The tyres became "stepped" on the inner edges. This is a recognised problem - Nissan North America has issued a technical bulletin for remedy. Further, Nissan North America offer free replacement tyres if the mileage is below 21,000.
However, I was informed that Nissan UK do not.
It took forceful discussion and a threat of legal action before the UK dealer who supplied my car would replace the front tyres. (There was also some embarrassment when I produced the Nissan North America technical bulletin of which the dealer was unaware!)
The first service was too expensive at £149.18; especially as the car was not cleaned and the courtesy car was a base model Almera (I declined a Micra). Annoying, given that a colleague with a Cooper S gets a 5 Series BMW when her car is serviced!
Performance is good - not blistering. But averages 27 mpg even with air-con on.
In short, a great, fun car only spoiled by stupid faults that should have been corrected without argument.

350z import

I bought an import version 12 months ago ands have had excellent trouble free motoring ever since. The car still looks fabulous and gets loads of glances as it goes by. Servicing is easy - its an import so I do my own - and parts are very reasonable. Horrid tyre noise is down to worn OEM michelins. Change them for almost anything and it goes away. Handling is excellent in the dry and good in the wet but the TC is a must for poor conditions. The ride is the only let down being too hard for most conditions and only making sense when you REALLY press on!! Trim is average and leather seats a must!
As a proper 2 seater there is plenty of space and the cabin is roomy. Long distance drives are a breeze. Although not the fastest thing I have owned the performance is good and with a decent after market exhaust (Fujitsubo) the sound is glorious. Theres lots of styling bits available and prices seem to be holding up well. 30 to the gallon on a run is nice even at a decent pace. Best of all it is the first performance car I have owned that the wife likes to drive.
All in all a top car and one that I intend to keep a while!

Great fun. It's done just 1000 miles but all good so far... I read lots of reviews before I bought the car and it hasn't disappointed so far. Lots of admiring comments and looks from people and rare to see another one on the road. Handling is great although I've not taken it anywhere near its limit so far... will have to take it on a track to try it properly... but think I'll wait until I need new tyres before I do that... could be a bit expensive otherwise!
