I bought my XJ6 15 months ago as a used car from Jaguar. It only has 3 options missing from the list! and has proved to be exceptionally comfortable very roomy and a great buy. I can live with the depreciation, and having tested the other cars in the XJ range (incl the XJR)decided for every day motoring this was the best value car. The XJ regularly returns mid 30 mpg on long runs and sevicing has been cheaper than my last Volvo S80 diesel it replaced. There have been some 'quality issues' but the service to rectfy them by the dealer has been outstanding. I wouldn't buy newer than 2years old though due to the initial depreciation.
