After four years of hard driving, the only bills I had on my 95 plate car were replacemant tyres and servicing. The six cylinder 3.2 litre engine was bomb-proof and a real pleasure to drive on motorways or to throw round country roads. I've never owned such a reliable car!

1997-1999 XJ8 or XK8

Be careful about buying an XJ8 manufactured during this period. The engines were lined with Nikasil which reacted with the pre-2000 high-sulphur petrol. This basically degraded the lining. The only way to fix this problem is to replace the engine. I'm looking at buying one. You shouldn't completing disregard this car due to the problem. Get it checked out by a Jaguar garage and get a blow-by test done. These cars are beautiful and are very cheap to buy compared to other luxury cars. Just make sure you get these problems checked out before buying it. I just got the results from the garage and the car is fine so I'm going in tomorrow to negotiate the price.

A great sporty saloon that handles very well but is mechanically very unreliable. The engine is the worst V8 I have ever come across and possibly the most expensive. I will never buy another Jaguar!

I love this car and I think George Clapperton is talking clap trap. This car has been in jd power top 10 for 10 years. The v8 is a great engine and is really smooth. I agree that jaguar dealers rip us off for servicing and repair but dont let down on the car. A real drivers car and a dream.If you know anything about cars that you gotta know the Jag is there with the best
