I bought an ex demo from a local dealer paid in the region of £18k in 2006 and had difficulty selling in 2008 managed to get rid of it for £12k to a local car sales man. I kept my old corsa as a second car.
The things I like:
Diesel gave me more miles to the £ the car looked good and had the low profile large alloys matched the silver body which made it stand out. lovely black interior half leather seats, smart nav was amazing not the box standard sat nav. Trafficmaster with mobile communications brilliant at 25p a journey. I loved it because it looked flash and the quality was there at a price. Air con was fab.
Things I hate:
Road noise was a bit high, leaky door seals rear passenger, and boot. Pointless rear window access never used it, Seat belt always had difficulty finding the slot very restricted access,
2nd gear on a down slope pull off often would stall the car only likes 1st gear.
Pedles - often my foot would catch the interior footwell padding but thats down to a size 12 shoe.
The general driving view I felt a bit restricted. This is a long distance car rubbish around town unless you get an automatic. The manual gears and clutch bite take a while getting use to always not sure which gear you were in.
Overall I was disapointed and would never buy a jag again. The biggest let down was the value lost in two years £6K nearly £300 per month. I should have kept it longer and bought it too new.
This is a £25K car new 50% loss in the third year is a bit expensive. Makes you think what defines a luxury car. The quality of the car or how much you loose in value. I should have bought this model after its third year.
I still have my corsa which is now 9 years old and I just can't part with it.

I have owned this 2.5 SE automatic version since October 1 2005. I really love everything about this car, except the fuel consumption. I average 24mpg on a motoway run, or 21 mpg around town - quite different from the Jaguar sales brochure!
As I only do about 5,000 miles a year, I am prepared to live with this, although if fuel goes to £1 a litre, I will have to have a rethink. I would have brought the 2.2-litre diesel, but they don't supply it in automatic form and it's not four-wheel drive, both of which I wanted. There really is nothing better than this car (apart from the 3.0-litre) as far as I'm concerned.
Although I understand that it's all down to taste, the interior is good - better than BMW, but perhaps not as well put together as an Audi. The combination of wood and leather really makes you feel special. The comfort is good, the roadholding excellent (although you would expect this for a four-wheel drive version) and, although the boot is shallow, it still gobbles up the weekly shopping handsomely.
I would recommend this car to anyone who is in the market for a medium executive saloon, who is not to bothered with fuel consumption. I wish Jaguar had addressed this issue and raised it into the 30-35mpg area, though

Comfortable and relaxing to drive, with good performance and handling when needed. Plenty of room in the boot and if necessary rear split drop down seats can be utilised. The specification is very high, including touch screen and voice commands for the Satnav, cd changer, radio, television and in built mobile phone. The auto box along with the cruise control is a pleasure
