Purchased my Terracan in June 2005 - now done 50,000 miles with no problems whatsoever. Fantastic value and excellent quality - Got mine with full leather and dark glass - makes it look great - due to my high mileage I change oil myself every 5000 miles and use a local independant garage for everything else. 5 year warranty not needed since it has never gone wrong. Also used to pull a trailer - vehicle is an excellent tow car. Very comfortable - great on long trips and keeps going in the rough stuff - still got original tyres after 50,000 miles - will condiser slighty more aggressive tyres in next few months (Grabber AT2's). Pity there are not more aftermarket toys available in the UK for the Terrancan ie lift/suspension kits etc..... I would consider buying another one however due to high depreciation I will probably take this one to 150000 miles before changing.

I have owned a Teracan for about 18 months. Ive found it reliable and have had no problems. It was originally bought to tow a trailer, but a change of circumstances prevented this from happerning. Ok it hasn't the refinement and prestige of other 4x4s costing almost double but I think its excellent value.

I purchased a new terracan in March 04.I kept it for two years and then changed it for a Sonata, bad move. The Sonata is a fantastic car, the only problem is it isn't a Terracan.I have suffered withdrawal symptoms to the point I convinced myself that I must again have a Terracan.I have just bought a S/H 2004 model and am really pleased with myself. They are a great 4x4 with only one real weakness, the alloy wheels are rubbish. On my first car they were changed, after some arm twisting with Hyundai. My current one, according to the previous owner, had also to be changed. The reason being the are very prone to pitting and subsequent corrosion. I have noticed this on many Terracans I have on the and in car parks. It's a pity Hyundai havent sorted this problem on what I consider to be a super car.

Bought a Terracan in June 2004 and had problems with the suspension. This took 20 months and a replacement vehicle as there were so many faults with the first one. The dealer changed it as Hyundai didn't want to know. Suspension was bottoming out on the bump stops when only I was in the car and driving on a normal road. When towing a caravan the suspension lowered so that the bump stops were sitting on the axle. In effect there wasn't any suspension. When the new car came the same problem arose with only 70 miles on the clock. The final outcome was a new suspension kit which is only available from Hyundai Australia because they were having the same problems. This kit was fitted and there was a great improvement with the ride quality and it seemed ok. After a few weeks the suspension started to bottom out again, so I am back to square one. Apart from that the car has a powerful engine and is excellent for the money, although residual values are rubbish. They had to change the rear differential; and the alloy wheels because they were pitting; and the tyres as the diff and faulty suspension had caused excessive wear on them. And the side steps were changed as rust was bubbling through the rubber coating; and the steering wheel as the leather was comming off; and the rear gas struts which lift the boot up...

Having wanted a nice 4x4 I researched the Terracan quite a bit and by chance got an amazing deal on a 18-month old car with 30k miles. It's now on 38k and I am 100% pleased with it and the dealer back-up. Don't be put off by the badge.
