I have owned this car for 3 years now, it is a 1997 1.6 sport, I have never had a moment bother with it, apart from normal wear and tear, I have not had any real problems with it, as for roominess, although I could not shut the boot proprely I have transported a full size fridge/freezer in it, it will seat 4 adults with comfort, not the fastest car in the world, but it has a gutsy motor, handles well(goes round corners as if it was on rails). £10 pound of petrol gets me back and from work for the whole week(round trip 16 miles a day). The interior may appear a bit bland and boring, but it is functional and practical, must admit though a bit more thought on the position of some of the switches leaves something to be desired ie; rear wiper switch.
As an every day car it performs very well, where I live there are a number of these cars about, but I am lucky I have one of a very rare colour, I see loads of red/green/blue and the odd yellow one, but not too many black ones, I am very happy with the car, as long as I get it serviced on a regular basis ie; in line with the recommened service intervals, this car baring a major incident will run for many more years to come, that brings value for money into question, like I said apart from normal wear and tear, this car is very economical to run, saying that, when something does go wrong, genuine Hyundai parts are expensive, so it pays to shop around, there are, if you know were to shop, very good quality after-market parts available and very good honest garages you can go to.
I hope that any body who reads this does not think that they would not be seen dead in an Hyundai, think back to when Top Gear reviewed the Lexus Coupe, they compared it against the Hyundai Coupe, who came out on top, you quested it the Hyundai. So all that said and done, please do dismiss Hyundai, looking for a fun car, have a look at the Hyundai Dealer in your town, take a test drive, do let my words influence you, Let the car do it, here's the nuts and bolts of it, my girlfriend has a new Fiat Punto Grande, nothing but problems, she is now thinking of buying herself a Hyundai. Speaks for its self.
