I purchased the Grande Punto 1.4 Dynamic Sport three months ago and I certainly don't regret my purchase. I have so far had four thousand miles of trouble free motoring and the car is by far the best looking supermini on the market. I like the layout of the controls inside the vehicle with the bluetooth phone link up being the most useful. The price easily beat all of its rivals. All in all I am very satisfied with this car and would recommend it.

+ Beautiful car, much cheaper than equivalent Ibiza/Polo/Fabia/Clio/207 etc, well-built, very well specified, excellent engine, very roomy, good on the motorway, excellent overtaker, low running and insurance costs, comfortable, good stereo, good steering feel, excellent brakes and traction, very good clutch/gearbox combo - Average mpg lower than expected (40-50mpg typical) Some quality issues: EGR valve, alloy wheels, drop links and thermostat all replaced under warranty. Some minor trim defects too but nothing serious. Typical niggles affecting one of the first of the line brand new models. She never let me down though, always starts and is a joy to drive and to own. Most warranty issues seem to have been resolved by now.

The brakes squealed from new - had to go back to garage to have fixed with the possibility of having new pads fitted. Back doors can be very hard to open from the outside without having to pull the handles several times. Has to go back to garage to get this sorted. Front suspension can be knocky on bumps. And the usual problem of the light lenses fogging up...

I have had my 06 Grande Punto since March 06 and its been back to the garage at least 12 times now. The trim in the car is really bad. When its taken back they leave screws out so the trim comes away. The dashboard is coming apart in areas. The breaks squeal. The knocking over bumps is apparently the Steering rack which I have just had replaced along with 4 roof lignings to date. The rubber trim round the doors has had to be replaced a few times as well. Water getting inside the doors. Now the exhaust is on its way out. Nice to look at and comfortable but I think Fiat need to look at their quality.
