Go to USED CAR PRICES and look at the PRIVATE SALE values. Don't forget to make an appropriate MILEAGE ADJUSTMENT.
If your car is in immaculate condition with full service history and lots of attractive extra equipment, search the classified ads to find comparative models at dealers. Set your price 10% below dealer asking prices and you should attract buyers.
It's worth studying the classified ads to check price levels in your area as prices vary regionally for different types of car. And if you've got an in-demand car and there are few being advertised, you're in a good position to ask a firm price.
THE PRICE IS RIGHT:
- Don't overprice your car - you can't ask dealer retail prices
- View your car objectively to value it. If it's got defects, make deductions for them.
- An asking price is not a selling price. Be prepared to accept a few hundred pounds less after haggling.
