Road Test
Mitsubishi has a city car to be proud of with the updated Colt. The new Colt is streets ahead of the old model and follows a joint collaboration with DaimlerChrysler. Sharing the same platform as the new Smart ForFour and features two 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel engines borrowed from Mercedes-Benz. The Colt is much cheaper than the Smart though and comes with a neat cabin that's well put together and quite futuristic. The long body means there's decent rear leg room and a huge boot. Just the five-door model is available in the UK but a sporty three-door is due in 2005. There's a choice of five-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearboxes and three petrol engines too.
