Overall Rating | |
Recommended. Revamped people-carrier should remain as popular as ever. Offering a vast range of engines and interiors, it has something for everyone.
For
- Larger and more spacious than previous Espace
- Very safe with a five-star NCAP rating
- Well equipped and comfortable
Against
- Petrol V6 is thirsty
- Not much room for luggage with all seats in use
- Restricted legroom in third row of seats
Road Test
The new Espace has the largest glass roof to date - and you can slide it back, almost turning the Renault into a convertible MPV. The lower half of the cabin is trimmed with harder plastics that should withstand knocks and scrapes better, and interior space is superb. A slick manual gearbox means that driving this large people-carrier is no hardship, and all the controls bar the optional satellite navigation are easily reached. A narrow digital display adds to the more contemporary feel of the car. Safety is paramount with Renault and the new Espace will be no exception.
