  • Are you happy with the documentation?
  • Are your first impressions of car and seller favourable?
  • Standing alongside the car with the seller, ask for its registration number.
  • Does the colour match the description on the V5 document?
  • Is there any obvious accident damage?
  • Does the car appear clean inside and out?
  • Do the number plates look the same age as the car? Or suspiciously newer?
  • Are there any signs of scratching, tampering or re-riveting on the VIN plates?
  • Does the visible wear-and-tear on the car correspond with its claimed age and mileometer reading?
  • How does the seller feel about you arranging an expert car inspection?
